Biggest Movers in the Theme Park Rankings, Explained

Short answer: Ranking moves come from three measurable things — a park's ride lineup changing, its gate price changing, and its wait times moving. Everything else is noise.

Ranking changes and how they happen

Each park's score blends thrill, family, value and crowd data. A marquee coaster entering the lineup lifts the thrill and lineup inputs; a steep gate price rise pulls the value input down; a sustained wait-time change moves the crowd input. The live order is on the ranking page.

Ranking changes that count as real moves

Change Do we report it?
One place No — inside normal noise
Two places or more Yes
Score shift of 0.10 or more Yes
Gate price change of 5%+ Yes

Top-ranked parks and their strengths

Europa-Park leads on breadth and consistency, Efteling on theming and family scores, and Tokyo Disneyland on operational polish. Six Flags Magic Mountain holds its place almost entirely on thrill density.

New parks awaiting ranking eligibility

Newly built parks — Six Flags Qiddiya City (Saudi Arabia) is the clearest current example — are covered in our news but stay out of the ranking until a full season of visitor ratings, wait-time data and pricing data is available. Being absent from the table is not a verdict on the park.

Weekly ranking changes are published in our theme park news, with the reasoning behind each move.
