How we score every park
Our score is a weighted blend of four standardized sub-scores: thrill factor (33%), family friendliness (33%), value for money (19%) and crowd management (15%). Every park is scored on the same scale before weighting, so a park cannot buy its way up the table with one spectacular attraction. There is a specialization allowance for parks that are outstanding in a narrow lane, but it softens the penalty rather than erasing it — a coaster park with weak family provision still pays for that gap.
That structure explains why the winner is not the most-visited park on earth. Magic Kingdom draws roughly 17.7 million people a year, more than any park in our dataset, and posts the highest family rating we award anywhere (9.7). It still lands at #6 overall (8.43), because tickets run $109–$199 and its value rating is 3.8.
Why Europa-Park ranks first
Europa-Park is the rare park with no soft edge. It scores 9.2 for thrill and 9.2 for family — the only park in the top ten that clears 9.0 on both — and adds a crowd management score of 8.6, unusually strong for a park handling six million visitors a year. It carries around 100 attractions across its European-themed districts, which is why our own guidance says two days rather than one.
Where it gives ground is price. At roughly $78–$95 for a day ticket it earns a value rating of 6.3, well behind the Asian leaders. That is the trade: European resort prices for the deepest all-round line-up in the world.
Efteling vs Tokyo Disneyland: the closest rivals
Efteling (#2, 9.00) is the counter-argument for anyone traveling with children. Its family rating of 9.4 is the highest in Europe, its tickets are half Europa-Park's at $46–$65, and its value rating of 7.3 is the better number of the two. It is a smaller park — 32 attractions against 100 — and its thrill rating of 8.4 reflects a line-up built around dark rides rather than records. If your trip is about atmosphere and storytelling, Efteling is arguably the better day out.
Tokyo Disneyland (#3, 8.97) is the operational benchmark. Family rating 9.6, value rating 7.8, and a day ticket around $50–$69 — roughly a third of what the Florida and California parks charge for a comparable line-up. Its thrill rating of 7.8 is the lowest in our top five, which is the only thing keeping it off the top step.

Is Europa-Park worth the trip?
For one park visit with no particular bias, yes: it is excellent at everything and disqualified from nothing. If you have a bias — small children, big coasters, a tight budget — the table has a better answer for you a few rows down, and the comparison tool will put any two of them side by side.
